02:03 am - Stories, toys, and magic
Alastair Reynolds is one of my favorite authors, writing amazing hard SF space operas with wonderful characters and impressive depth. I enjoy stories of his Revelation Space universe, but many of them are quite sad, and so I often find myself enjoying his works set in other universes better. However, his collection of Revelation Space stories Galactic North is a gem, and finding a wonderful and amazing story of love and wonder like Weather is truly a treasure.

Speaking of somewhat sad but excellent stories, this piece of Dr. Who fiction (focusing on Jack Harkness (of course) contains no slash but is truly touching and excellent, and tomorrow I see the last to episodes of Torchwood.

In other news, I definitely know what I'm asking my parent's for my b-day. I love my PDA/mp3 player and have never had a cell phone, but this is too cool to not have.

Now I'm off to try some tarot meditation from Donald Michael Kraig's excellent Modern Magick: Eleven Lessons in the High Magickal Arts. It's definitely well past time to get back in practice with such things.

When *is* your b'day. Mine was two days ago. And I know I *still* have to send off those CD's. I bloody well keep forgetting to do so. And I need to find your address again...
