01:14 pm - A happy day in politics
Joyful political news. on the eve of his State of the Union Address, Bush's approval rating is now 28%. That's even lower than I thought it would ever go, that's literally Nixon-in-the-last-days levels of low. His rating of 33% at the beginning of this month was lower than any president since Nixon.

Even better, Cheney is now in deep trouble for his involvement in the Valerie Plame case. I'm cautiously hopeful that we will see the profound political joys of 1973 all over again - with luck, this time there will be jail time involved. Among other things, this rather grim and lengthy lesson will likely insure that the US avoids all other potentially lengthy wars for another 25-30 years.

Thinking of the level of dismay and despair that must now be present among the ranks of the neocons and die-hard Republicans brings a bright smile to my face, as does the potential prospect of seeing Cheney in an orange jump-suit.
Current Mood: pleasedpleased

Well, keep in mind that the statements about Cheney's role in all this come from the prosecutor, who has every reason to tie the defendant to the deeply unpopular veep.

Very true. Action against Cheney might take a while. However, with an approval rating that low, I also have hopes that someone might take the idea of impeaching Shrub somewhat more seriously than has been done in the past.

I know it's too much to hope for, but please, oh please, let there be frog marching out of the Oval Office.

Gods yes, I'm simultaneously horrified and amazed at almost every opinion that comes from that horrid man's mouth. Thankfully, the Supreme Court's views on such things most definitely trumps his, and despite having far too many conservatives on it, they are absolutely certain to strongly disagree.

Given that this is approximately the same number of extreme fundy social conservative knuckleheads, I'm not particularly surprised, merely dismayed.
