12:58 pm - Aliens from beyond the grave
The latest news from the weird is that the person who was the public relations officer at Roswell New Mexico in 1947 and who made both the initial broadcast about a mysterious disk and the retraction that claimed it was a weather balloon died in 2005 and left a statement to be opened after his death, the statement claims it was all real and that he saw both the wreckage of an alien spaceship and alien bodies, if, as I strongly suspect, he was having a last posthumous laugh and messing with everyone then I am mightily impressed. I still don't believe that UFOs visit the earth, but I appreciate what I assume to be the purpose of his effort.

I don't think they visit the earth - I think that whatever those disks and people were, they live here. The pictures of the dead 'aliens' could very well be a picture of a dessicated human after being cooked in a very hot environment such as what would have occurred not during an explosion but maybe if the cooling system had failed upon entering the earth's atmosphere at a great speed. I think that there may be a colony of scientists somewhere on Earth who have actually continued to develop alternate technology to the point where it is usable. The world is a vast place, and it takes all kinds... As to whether or not the particular ones at Roswell actually existed - it's hard to say. People don't usually consider creating hoaxes on their deathbeds...

If you wish... I was thinking more along the lines of more ordinary people, but with extra-ordinary scientific ability, who formed their own community - a lot of people formed insular groups. I'm thinking along the lines of "Atlas Shrugged" by ayn rand (not anyone's favorite author, I know...)

But why would they be cruising around in a weather balloon at 2 am...?

I'm a skeptic, but my stepfather has spoken with a Roswell eyewitness and swears it's all true.
