As I mentioned in this post, teaotter's plan for not discussing any of the details our relationship with amberite with my parents, but with letting them know that Alice is very important to us seems to be going very well indeed. The silver-lining for us getting thrown out of our previous residence is that my parents are going to buy us a house (something made far easier by the fact that housing prices are actually declining in Portland for the first time in well more than a decade). My one reservation was with the issue of them buying a house for us, and how they would react with the idea of Alice still living with us.
A couple of days ago, I was talking with my parents about two very nice houses I'd seen, and talk started moving more seriously into house buying and my mother mentioned that we shouldn't get someplace too small and then continued that she didn't know if Alice would be moving into this house with us, paused for a second, and before I could answer, added that this was none of her business – a statement that is quite impressive coming from my impressively intrusive and rather poisonous mother. Clearly, they have some clue about our relationship with Alice, they also like Alice (thanks to her magnificent performance when she met them), and equally clearly, they have no interest in knowing what's actually up with the three of us.
Becca once again proves herself to be a wonder and exactly as brilliant as test scores have shown her to be.

Indeed. Btw, is there any chance of you calling me today? I'll be out for the next 40 minutes, but will be back after that.
Not sure yet. I will if I can, but later is more likely than earlier. Work and sleep (lack of) clashed badly. Will call soon, if I miss you tonight. 55% chance ;)
