01:39 pm - Technical problem solved + new phone joys
The Nokia n82 is noted for not having the longest battery life around (2 days, or 1 day with heavy usage seems standard, and fits with my limited experience with my new phone). However, yesterday after installing some nifty location-aware apps and an alleged wifi-manager, I suddenly noticed that battery life had dropped to 8 hours from full charge to the phone turning off due to an empty battery, despite having only used it once yesterday, for 3 minutes. Thankfully, it's been 10 hours since I removed the wifi manager app and fully recharged my phone, and it's still registering as full charge. OTOH, the location-aware apps both look very nice indeed.

So, far the only downside of this phone is the lack of a qwerty keyboard. I can use my n810 to send text messages (yay!), but can't use it for data entry in for the various phone apps, and no matter how you fiddle with it, a standard phone number pad, even with the best T9 software still utterly sucks as a method of data entry. In any case, the n82 may be a year old, but it's a relatively inexpensive and utterly amazing phone. I'll take my n810/n82 combo over any single pocket sized device currently out there. The only competitor that looks at all reasonable is the Nokia n97, and not only isn't it out yet, but the screen size and resolution are both well inferior to my n810s, so I'd rate it as likely as good, but not better
