02:12 am - A Miscellany of Today
The rooms being built in the basement are finished, making this a very lovely 4 bedroom house. Also, the phone finally works - whoever did the phone jacks during the remodeling clearly had no idea what they were doing - on the positive side, it sounds like we won't be charged for having all 5 phone jacks rewired (but I'm not certain). Sadly, now I'm using the wretchedness that is dial-up internet connectivity, since the unlocked wifi site has vanished.

Socially, things go well, I had a lovely conversation with shadowmorphic today, and then Aaron came back from LA for his Spring break. It was wonderful too see him, I fed him dinner, and will see him tomorrow. After that, Becca, & Alice, and I watched the latest episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I've enjoyed this season, but after the first few episodes, it largely lacked the feel that the entire first season had of packing almost 2 hours of content into 50 minutes of television. This one had that back and was excellent. After that, we watched Dollhouse, and this was the first episode that actually didn't suck. I've found it less offensive as the show has gone one, but I've also found it to be ham-handed and generally stupid, but this episode actually had some wonderfully unexpected character interaction, such as agent Ballard getting called on his white knight fantasy. It's not a great show by any means, but it is getting better. However, SCC is a far superior show. Tomorrow, we'll watch the BSG finale.

I enjoy seeing Dollhouse slowly find its feet and have continued watching it on Fox's Web site for that reason. Most shows start very mediocre, but sometimes they grow into something better. It's disappointing after how much I enjoyed Firefly, but it does seem like it's slowly starting to get better.

I saw most of the Battlestar Galactica finale last night. Not having followed the series, I felt it was very "meh." It reminded me that I never got into the show because it presented itself as gritty sci-fi by adding heaping gobs of melodrama everywhere they could, whether or not it was meaningful or sensible, while ignoring anything that remotely resembled science. The finale was no different. There were points where it was at least somewhat emotionally resonant, but overall, I found it disappointing. Like I said, though, I haven't really followed the show closely, only having seen a few scattered episodes.
