12:46 am - Epic Kitchen Fail
After a number of years of yoga and other forms of bodywork, I'm considerably less clumsy than I used to be, but occasionally everything goes wrong. Earlier today was one of those times. Becca had called and I was going out to meet her. Before I left, I needed to finish up the lovely spaghetti sauce I was making, so I found let it simmer for an hour while I went out with Becca. I was almost done simmering the onions in lots of olive oil, when the phone rang. It was my great aunt, we talked for a bit, then, I went into the kitchen to stir the onions and add the tomatoes, honey, and etc... At this point, the phone cord caught on the handle of the pot. In the course of the next 5 seconds, the pan flew off the stove, spilling onions and olive oil on my pants and over 2 rooms (I was both impressed and horrified at how far they went), while also not merely hanging up, but unplugging the phone (which I didn't notice, until later, and so never found out that my great aunt had tried to call back). Wow. So, I rechopped some more onions, cooked them, cleaned up, and about 15 minutes later went out to meet Becca. Thankfully, the tomato sauce was absolutely delicious, but I definitely don't need that sort of epic disaster again.

When the food becomes airborne, generally things have not gotten better.

Glad you didn't get burned!

Maybe you can chock it up to Mercury Retrograde. I have no idea how that applies, but it sounds like a good explanation to me.
