12:56 am - Wonderful Visiting
shadowmorphic & her dear friend fishy1 stayed with us last week, and it was utterly wonderful. Seeing Jade is always impressively wonderful, and while I had seen Jenna at Walking the Thresholds and Crossing the Thresholds before, she is fairly quiet and I'm somewhat shy, and so I'd never gotten to know her at all. I did a bit during this visit, and she is definitely someone well worth knowing. In any case, Jade is likely to be coming back to visit in a few months for an even long visit, and that makes me very happy indeed.

That's also not the only visiting of late – our dear friends lyssabard & tlttlotd will be visiting in a couple of weeks. It's been far too long since we've seen them, and this is their first visit to Portland. I've been rather sad that our finances don't permit us to go to Crossing the Thresholds this year, and we won't be able to extend our holiday trip to DC to see my parents to see anyone there either, since my parents are visiting us for the holidays, which will be strange and stressful in new and different ways. However, they'll be staying in a hotel, and so we'll have evenings to ourselves. In any case, having the non-Portland people I love most visit is definitely good news.

I am really really glad we will be coming out to see you guys, and I hope the timing is ok so as not to overly stress you guys out too much. But I am grateful for you guys, grateful for this trip and I hope we can make the current stresses a little easier on you guys.

Maybe you all should start a bed and breakfast, it'd increase tourism to Portland, and put a few extra bucks into the house!
